Vietnam desires broader cooperation from KOICA

VOV.VN - Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Economic Affairs Nguyen Van Binh has suggested the Government of the Republic of Korea (RoK), including the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) step up cooperation with Vietnam across a variety of fields.

He made the suggestion at a January 16 reception for KOICA President Lee Mi-kyung in Hanoi, during which, he said the effective bilateral collaboration made considerable contributions to Vietnam-RoK relations.

Binh said he hopes that the RoK will work closely with Vietnam to undertake vocational training projects, improve management capacity for Vietnamese officials and share experience with the country in developing financial and capital markets as well as tax, fiscal, industry and specialised economic zone development policies.

He showed his wish that the KOICA will exchange experts in state budget management and sustainable energy development, adding that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 25 years ago, both countries have enjoyed fruitful cooperation in a multitude of fields, especially in economy. The RoK is one of the most important economic partners of Vietnam and the largest foreign investor in the country.

The Vietnam-RoK free trade agreement, which became effective on December 20, 2015, has created the impetus for achieving the bilateral trade target of US$100 billion by 2020.

Lee assured the KOICA's continued support for Vietnam’s socio-economic development and readiness to further advance bilateral cooperative ties between the two nations.
