President visits Vietnam-Russia Tropical Centre
Vietnam-Russia Tropical Centre’s staff should make greater effort to fulfill heavy tasks assigned by the State, expand cooperation with science and technology organizations and train highly qualified human resources.
President Truong Tan Sang made this statement during his visit to the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Centre on May 18.
He praised the centre’s achievements over the past two decades while calling it to focus on technological research, application and transfer of technology based on economic and defence cooperation with Russia’s science and technology organizations.
He asked relevant Vietnamese and Russian agencies to improve the mechanisms and effectiveness of technology transfer from Russia to Vietnam and implement a pilot model of science and technology businesses in order to develop the centre into a scientific agency of international standard.
Established in 1988 by the Vietnamese Ministry of Defence and the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Centre has recorded many achievements with highly applicable projects, meeting the country’s requirements for socio-economic development,defence and security.
