Osaka wishes to reinforce ties with Vietnam

Japan’s Osaka Prefecture is paying heed to advancing its engagement with Vietnam in trade, science and technology, and environmental treatment solutions, Governor Yutaka Imai said while meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Nguyen Quoc Cuong on October 19.

He went on to note that additional youth exchange programmes are in progress with an Osaka student group to travel to Ho Chi Minh City in January 2016.

The governor expected the trip would boost mutual understanding and cement bonds between Vietnam and Japan.

He also shared a local parliamentarians’ alliance for friendship with Vietnam plan to visit Vietnam in mid-2016.

At the meeting, Osaka authorities expressed their belief in flourishing Vietnam-Japan cooperation in the future.

Ambassador Cuong affirmed his willingness to support bilateral affiliations in trade, investment and student exchanges.

Earlier, the diplomat held talks with leaders of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association’s chapter in Kansai region, where Osaka is located, who is organising a business trip to Hanoi, Hue and Ho Chi Minh City from October 20-26 to promote economic ties.
