NA Chairman holds meetings with leaders of Japanese parties
VOV.VN - National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Shii Kazuo, chairman of the Presidium of the Japanese Communist Party (JCP) Central Committee, and President of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan (CDPJ) Noda Yoshihiko in Tokyo on December 6 within the framework of his official visit to the East Asian nation.

The top Vietnamese leader congratulated the JCP on winning a significant number of seats in the recent House of Representatives election, thanking Shii for leading a JCP delegation to the national mourning ceremony for late Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong back in July.
As part of this occasion, he conveyed regards sent by General Secretary To Lam and other senior leaders of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) to Shii and leaders of the JCP.
Expressing his pleasure at the growth of diplomatic relations after over the past five decades, the Vietnamese NA leader highlighted the elevation of their relationship to that of a comprehensive strategic partnership for that cause of peace and prosperity in Asia and the world.
He therefore emphaised that political trust between the two countries has continued to strengthen, with substantial progress made in co-operation across various fields, including economics, investment, trade, tourism, science and technology, education and training, national defence, and security.
NA Chairman Man therefore affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State regards Japan as a top strategic partner and is a key priority in the nation’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, and diversification of relations. He also stressed that the CPV consistently values its traditional solidarity and friendship with the JCP.
For his part, Shii hailed the traditional solidarity and friendship that exists between the JCP and the CPV, affirming that the JCP views the CPV as a trusted friend and partner, expressing his hope at the prospect of continuing to develop the relationship between the two parties.
Shii therefore suggested that both parties continue carrying out agreements in a bid to boost their ties through regular high-level contacts and meetings, the continued organisation of theory exchanges, and mutual support on international and multilateral forums.
Agreeing with the JCP leader’s proposals to further strengthen party-to-party ties, NA Chairman Man showed his heartfelt gratitude for the support and friendship extended by the JCP and Shii personally towards the Party, State, and people of Vietnam.
He proposed that the two parties continue working together as part of efforts to further develop the bilateral relations in a rapid, comprehensive, and practical manner in line with the new level of the bilateral relationship upgraded back in 2023.
He therefore urged the JCP to continue influencing the Japanese Government to beef up substantial co-operation in key areas such as trade, investment, new-generation official development assistance (ODA), and security-defence.
Furthermore, he asked the JCP to continue supporting the Vietnamese stance on the East Sea issue as well as the settlement of disputes through peaceful means based on international law.
Both sides therefore reaffirmed the importance of the relationship between the two parties, agreeing to continue strengthening exchanges and high-level contacts in flexible ways, while also maintaining and enhancing the effectiveness of the theory exchange mechanisms, and sharing perspectives and positions on global and regional issues.
Meeting with President of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan (CDPJ) Noda Yoshihiko, Man congratulated the CDPJ on its great success in the election of the Japanese House of Representatives in October, and hailed the recent strides in the two countries’ relations, including the elevation of ties to the “Comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world” in 2023.

He also applauded the progress in connections between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the CDPJ as seen in their signing of a cooperation agreement last year.
Meanwhile, Noda affirmed that in his position, he will help strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the two Parties as in accordance with the signed deal.
He noted that as working-age people account for the majority of Vietnam’s population while the situation is contrary in Japan, the two countries can work together to support each other paradoxical scenario.
With its technical and technological advantages, Japan can assist Vietnam to implement large-scaled projects and programmes, Noda said.
Greatly valuing Noda’s sentiments towards Vietnam during his term as Prime Minister of Japan 12 years ago, the the Vietnamese top legislator said CDPJ is a prestigious party in the Japanese House of Representatives, and that he believed with their prestige, the CDPJ and its President will continue helping to boost ties between the countries’ law-making bodies in the time ahead.
Japan is currently the largest provider of official development assistance (ODA) for Vietnam, he said, while calling on Noda to advocate the supply of new-generation ODA for infrastructure development projects in Vietnam.
He said since the two countries still have substantial potential and advantages to be tapped into, they should ramp up cooperation in various aspects to match their Comprehensive strategic partnership.
At the recently concluded 8th session, the 15th NA of Vietnam adopted and discussed many important bills on investment and business. It is also working to fine-tune the legal corridor and the investment climate favourable for foreign businesses, including those from Japan, to improve stable and long-term operations in the country, the NA Chairman added.
On this occasion, the top legislator suggested the CDPJ and Noda continue supporting and offering conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, study, and work stably in Japan.
