Gambia hopes Vietnam will send agricultural experts to help the country in rice cultivation to ensure food security for its people and implement the United Nations Millennium Development Goal.

Gambian Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Omar Alieu Touray expressed his country’s hope at a reception hosted by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem in Hanoi on May 14.

Both sides agreed to increase the exchanges of experts to discuss concrete issues in the future.

Gambian Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Touray also praised Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements and external policy of diversification and multi-lateralisation after 20 years of renewal.

The official said the Gambian Government has applied Vietnam’s economic renovation model in the hope that the country will achieve economic success.

While in Vietnam, Gambian Secretary of State Touray, who is accompanied by Secretary of State for Trade, Industry and Employment Abdou Kolley, will hold working sessions with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to discuss orientations for future cooperation.
