Vietnam’s National Reunification Day celebrated in Venezuela
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s 49th National Reunification Day was celebrated at a ceremony in Caracas, Venezuela, on April 30.
Addressing the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador Vu Trung My recalled the great victory of the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign that put an end to the pro-US Saigon puppet regime on April 30, 1975.
Under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people completed their historical mission of completely liberating the South, reunifying the country, and bringing Vietnam into a new era of building socialism for the sake of a rich people, a strong country, and a fair, democratic, and civilized society, he said.
He attributed the success of the Vietnamese revolution to the clear-sighted leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh Thoughts, as well as the sincere solidarity, impartial and enormous support and assistance given to Vietnam by progressive political forces and peace-loving people around the world, and in Latin America, including those in Venezuela.
Taking the floor, Vice President in charge of foreign affairs of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela Rander Pena affirmed that the great victory on April 30, 1975 which is associated with the name and revolutionary career of beloved President Ho Chi Minh and the glorious Communist Party of Vietnam is a source of inspiration for peoples around the world who are fighting for independence, freedom, self-determination, justice and social progress.
Several Venezuelan delegates shared memories of Venezuela’s progressive forces taking to the streets to support the struggle of the Vietnamese people about five decades ago. They said they are happy with Vietnam’s development, especially its sound achievements of the Doi Moi (Renewal) process initiated and led by the Communist Party of Vietnam, and believed that the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership between Venezuela and Vietnam would continue to be fostered in future.
On this occasion, Vietnam News Agency in collaboration with the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela held a photo exhibition marking 35 years of traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Venezuela.
