UN chief praises Vietnam’s approach to emerging global challenges
VOV.VN - United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres appreciated Vietnam’s comprehensive approach to tackling emerging global challenges at the third United Nations Ocean Conference – UNOC 3 in Nice, France, during his meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on June 9.

Guterres congratulated Vietnam on its impressive socio-economic achievements, describing the country as a model for peace and sustainable development, while commending the country’s contributions to elevating the voice and role of developing countries on the global stage.
He expressed his desire to work closely with Vietnam to implement the key outcomes of the conference, contributing to global peace, stability, inclusive growth, and sustainable development.
Chinh, for his part, highly appreciated the leadership of the Secretary-General and UN agencies in promoting sustainable development and ocean cooperation. He thanked the world’s governing body for its long-standing and effective support for Vietnam’s nearly 40-year journey of reform and development.
Vietnam attaches great importance to and supports the central role of the United Nations in global governance, he told the UN leader.
He stressed country’s continued commitment to multilateralism, respect for international law, and active contribution to global efforts to promote dialogue, cooperation, and the reform of the UN system toward greater efficiency.
The PM called on the UN to continue assisting Vietnam in strengthening its marine economy, improving resilience to natural disasters, adapting to climate change, and accelerating the green energy transition.
