President Luong Cuong suggests cooperation opportunities for Peruvian businesses
VOV.VN - President Luong Cuong proposed various potential areas for cooperation between Vietnam and Peru during his meeting with leaders of major Peruvian corporations, in Lima on November 14 as part of his engagement in the APEC 2024 High-Level Week.

He noted that over the past 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Vietnam and Peru have maintained a good relationship through various bilateral dialogue mechanisms spanning politics, diplomacy, and economics. Both countries share many common values and actively participate in and continuously strengthen cooperation and mutual support in international forums.
According to him, there remains ample potential for further cooperation between the two countries, especially when both are members of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
He highlighted that Peru’s designation as a Development Partner by ASEAN would strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia and open opportunities for increased trade between Peru and ASEAN member states. He expressed the hope that Vietnam would serve as a gateway to connect Peruvian businesses with the nearly 700 million people in the ASEAN market.
The President therefore urged Peru to support and facilitate Vietnamese projects, particularly in digital transformation, digital infrastructure, smart cities, cybersecurity, digital health care, and education, as well as to streamline the procedures for transferring Vietnam’s oil and gas projects in Peru.
In addition, he suggested that Peruvian businesses consider the potential for cooperation in developing sectors such as mineral extraction, organic agriculture, food processing, and tourism the areas where Peru has particular strengths and Vietnam has significant potential and a growing demand for investment.
He also proposed continued coordination to exploit Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms, of which both countries are members, including APEC, the CPTPP, and the Forum for Latin America and the Caribbean (FEALAC).
The President affirmed Vietnam's commitment to creating a favorable business and investment environment for foreign investors in general and for Peruvian companies in particular, to facilitate effective and sustainable cooperation in the Southeast Asian country.
Furthermore, he revealed that during his earlier discussions with leaders of the State, Government, and Parliament of Peru, both sides agreed to promote the enhancement of Vietnam-Peru relations to a new level.
He expressed his belief that that economic, investment, and trade cooperation would continue to be a crucial pillar in bilateral relations and a driving force to elevate the Vietnam-Peru relationship to new heights for mutual prosperity.
The leaders of the Peruvian firms praised the remarkable progress and dynamism of Vietnam’s economy, and believed that both sides could complement each other in pursuit of sustainable and prosperous development.
They introduced their strengths, particularly in mining and clean energy development, and expressed a desire to better understand the Vietnamese market and seek partnership opportunities in their respective strong sectors, thereby further enhancing economic, trade, and investment relations between the two countries.
The meeting saw the participation of the leaders of companies specializing in sectors such as mining, energy, port investment, financial services, mutual fund management, electricity, and insurance.
