PM Pham Minh Chinh visits Ho Chi Minh Memorial Complex in Kunming
VOV.VN - Upon arriving in Kunming, China, on November 5 for regional summits, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Complex in the city that honours the legacy of President Ho and his contributions to Vietnam’s revolutionary movement.

The Memorial Complex in Kunming is the place is where President Ho lived and worked from February to October 1940. During his stay there, he met with prominent Vietnamese revolutionaries such as Pham Van Dong, Vo Nguyen Giap, and other officials to discuss significant events in the Vietnamese revolutionary movement.
President Ho also surveyed the Yunnan-Vietnam railway route and engaged in various other activities during his time in Kunming. This period was crucial for coordinating efforts and strategies that would later contribute to Vietnam’s struggle for national independence. The complex serves as a testament to President Ho’s leadership and the solidarity among Vietnamese revolutionaries during their fight for national liberation.
In 2011, the old house was recognized as a cultural heritage site at the municipal level, and in 2019, it was designated as a cultural heritage site at the provincial level.
To continue nurturing and promoting the traditional friendship between China and Vietnam, as well as to enhance people-to-people exchanges and cultural interactions between the two countries, on May 19, 2022, the Kunming city government, and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Kunming, along with relevant agencies, organized a groundbreaking ceremony for the restoration of the memorial site.
During the November 5 visit, Prime Minister Chinh and his entourage paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh in commemoration of his great contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.

He wrote in the guestbook that the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Complex in Kunming is a valuable historical site, a testament to the tradition of solidarity and the close ties of the revolutionary movements of the Vietnamese and Chinese Parties and countries.
He thanked the Party Committee, the Government, and the people of Yunnan Province for their efforts in preserving the memorial site, believing the site will always be a ‘red address’ for the people, especially the younger generations of both countries, to learn from, thus contributing positively to fostering the friendship between Vietnam and China.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is in Kunming, Yunnan, to attend the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit, the 10th Ayeyawady – Chao Phraya – Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit, and the 11th Cambodia – Laos – Myanmar – Vietnam (CLMV) Cooperation Summit.
