Party chief To Lam receives Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun
VOV.VN - Party General Secretary To Lam on December 19 received Chinese Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jun who is in Hanoi for celebrations marking 80 years of the Vietnam People’s Army.

To Lam welcomed Dong’s visit, emphasizing it as a reflection of the high regard that the Communist Party, Government, and Army of China place on the traditional friendship between the two Parties, States, and Armies. He noted that Dong’s visit contributes to concretizing high-level mutual understandings on strengthening defense and security cooperation, a key pillar of the Vietnam-China partnership.
He congratulated China on its remarkable achievements over the past 40 years of reform, and in 2024 in completing its first centenary goal, paving the way toward the second centenary goal, making a positive contribution to peace and stability regionally and globally.
Dong for his part congratulated Vietnam on its significant achievements and the Vietnam People’s Army on 80 years of growth and success. He expressed his belief that under the steadfast leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by General Secretary To Lam, Vietnam would achieve further substantial accomplishments in its renovation and socialist construction efforts, successfully fulfilling its two centenary goals of Party and State establishment in 2030 and 2045 respectively.
To Lam emphasized that the Party, State, army, and people of Vietnam deeply value the significant support provided by the Communist Party, Government, army, and people of China throughout history. He appreciated the substantial progress in relations between the two Parties, States, and armies, as well as the increasingly practical and effective defense cooperation, helping to strengthen political trust and solidarity, bringing tangible benefits to the peoples of both countries and contributing positively to regional and global peace, stability, and development.

He proposed that the Ministries of Defense and the armies of the two countries enhance high-level and multi-level exchanges and meetings, effectively implement existing mechanisms, and explore and promote new areas of potential cooperation. He also suggested expanding collaboration in political education and personnel trainingwhile strengthening border cooperation, and better managing and resolving maritime disputes in line with high-level mutual understanding and international law.
Dong affirmed that China highly values the traditional friendship between the two Parties, States, and armies. He affirmed that the People’s Liberation Army of China is ready to implement high-level mutual understandings and work with the Vietnam People’s Army to foster substantive and comprehensive cooperation, contributing to building a Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
