Boeing supports development of an aviation ecosystem in Vietnam
VOV.VN - Boeing will support the development of an aviation ecosystem in Vietnam, focusing on building aviation infrastructure, training personnel, and developing airports as well as maintenance and repair facilities for aircraft in the country, said Brendan Nelson, president of Boeing Global.

Meeting with Party General Secretary and President of Vietnam To Lam, in New York on September 22 (local time), Nelson briefed the leader on the results of the firm’s cooperation with Vietnam, especially national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, in recent times, and hoped that more Vietnamese people will get access to aviation services in the future.
To Lam for his part appreciated Boeing’s business achievements and its cooperation with Vietnam, as well as its commitment to supporting Vietnam in developing the aviation and aerospace industrial ecosystem.
Highlighting the continued positive development of Vietnam-US relations, particularly following the recent upgrade of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, To Lam reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to creating favourable conditions for US investors, especially Boeing, to operate effectively and sustainably in the country.
He urged Boeing to closely cooperate with Vietnamese partners to fulfill and deliver on existing aircraft orders, and to deploy investments in regional component manufacturing facilities and maintenance centers linked to major airports in Vietnam.
He also emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in workforce training, research and development (R&D), and technology transfer, to help Vietnamese firms to engage deeper in Boeing’s supply chain.
Meanwhile, Nelson reaffirmed that Boeing has held numerous discussions with the leadership of Vietnam Airlines to provide financial support and seek solutions to both immediate and long-term challenges. He vowed to complete a contract signed during President Joe Biden’s September 2023 visit to Vietnam by 2028.
Under the contract, Vietnam Airlines has planned to purchase 50 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft worth US$10 billion for air routes in Vietnam and Asia.
General Secretary and President To Lam of Vietnam is in New York for the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
