Votive paper market inactive ahead of Vu Lan festival
(VOV) - Hang Ma Street in Hanoi, which is famous for selling votive offerings, is not as busy this year as in previous year when the Vu Lan festival (Mother’s Day) is coming near.
The Buddhist ritual, which falls on the 15th night of the seventh lunar month, is celebrated to show someone’s gratitude to their ancestors.
It is also the time for pardoning wandering souls who are then released from hell.
