The three-day function is part of activities to mark the 62nd anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Laos and the 57th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic ties.

The annual programme has been held by the Ho Chi Minh municipal Youth Union since 2010 as part of efforts to strengthen solidarity and amity between Vietnamese, Lao, and Cambodian children.
