The two sides agree to promote political, defense and security cooperation with a higher level of trust, alongside maintaining regular high-level visit exchanges and coordinating closely at regional and international forums.

The two sides welcome the signing of an action programme for the Implementation of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries’ Ministries of Foreign Affairs, helping to foster bilateral relations in an effective and substantive manner.

They vow to effectively implement the Vietnam – Korea Free Trade Agreement (VKFTA) and facilitate business operations, aiming to soon raise their two-way trade turnover to US$100 billion in 2023 and look towards the US$150 billion target by 2030.

During the joint press briefing after the talks, the two presidents welcome the signing of a US$2 billion cooperation agreement with the Korea Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDPF) to implement large-scale development investment projects in the field of transport and urban infrastructure.

The two leaders affirm the importance of ensuring peace, security, safety and freedom of navigation and overflight in the East Sea, resolving maritime disputes by peaceful means, and ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of regional coastal states in accordance with international law.

President Yoon says that the RoK Government will actively support the enhancement of Vietnam’s maritime security and order capacity based on the memorandum of understanding on maritime security signed during the visit.

President Yoon says as both Vietnam and the RoK are currently benefiting from trade liberalization, they should protect and preserve these benefits in the future. He proposes strengthening cooperation in such fields as digital transformation, energy transformation, and renewable energy.

Receiving the RoK President, PM Pham Minh Chinh suggests that the RoK further open its market for key Vietnamese products, help Vietnamese enterprises join more deeply in the global supply chains of Korean businesses, and encourage Korean companies to expand their investment in Vietnam, particularly in priority areas such as infrastructure development, high-tech electronic manufacturing, semiconductors, renewable energy, and smart cities.

On June 23 evening, President Vo Van Thuong and his spouse host a national banquet in honour of RoK President Yoon Suk-yeol and his wife. President Yoon is scheduled to leave on June 23, concluding his three-day visit to Vietnam.
