The Hanoi police department establishes six additional special working groups on August 29 in order to inspect the implementation of pandemic control measures across the city ahead of National Day on September 2.

Each group consists of 15 members who will consecutively patrol through the streets of Hanoi in order to tighten COVID-19 prevention regulations.

This comes after the initial six special working groups were founded on August 16 as part of a plan by Hanoi’s authorities to deal with the increase in daily infection cases.

The group receives support from local police forces of Ha Dong district as they help to reduce traffic congestion, while residents have their documents checked to make sure they have the correct travel permits.

Over 1,000 vehicles are checked on the morning of August 30 with eight among them fined.

Six drivers are found violating COVID-19 prevention and control measures due to having invalid travel permits whilst two others violate traffic safety laws such as wearing no helmet and having no driving license.

Along with the 12 special working groups, Hanoi authorities also request police forces in every district tighten COVID-19 prevention measures in residential areas.

Approximately 10,965 vehicles are checked at 23 checkpoints throughout the capital between August 28 and August 29. Among them, 2,116 vehicles are not permitted to enter the capital due to violating pandemic control measures, whilst 13 cases are fined for going out without a valid reason.
