At the ASEAN-US special summit held on May 13, the US, led by President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, announces a number of proposals and initiatives aimed at bolstering co-operation with the reginal bloc. This includes a US$40 million grant to finance the development of clean energy infrastructure and a US$60 million project to boost maritime co-operation.

The Vietnamese Government chief and leaders of other ASEAN member states hold a working lunch with US lawmakers in Washington D.C. on May 12. As part of this occasion, the Vietnamese leader proposes the building of regular contacts through meetings between the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) and the US Congress in a bid to reinforce trust and maintain sincere dialogue across multiple fields of co-operation.
