VOV.VN - Final preparations have been made in the northwestern province of Dien Bien ahead of the opening ceremony of the Hoa Ban (Bauhinia) Festival and national tourism year 2024 which is scheduled to take place on March 16.

Held for the first time back in 2014, the annual event aims to celebrate hoa ban, the typical flower found in the northwestern region during spring.

The annual festival is named after the region’s signature flower "hoa ban", or bauhinia, and features unique cultural life in the north and northwestern region, which is home to about 19 ethnic minorities, including both the Thai and Mong people.
