Upon addressing the ceremony, Le Tuan Dinh, chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Da district, notes that Kim Lien temple, which is located in Phuong Lien ward of Dong Da district in Hanoi, was built to honour Cao Son Dai Vuong, the deity who secretly supported King Le Tuong Duc to quell rebellions and restored him to throne from 980 to 1009.

The temple also conserves 33 imperial edicts of the Le and Nguyen dynasties conferred to God Cao Son.

Each year the major festival of Kim Lien takes place on March 16 according to the lunar calendar.

It was built to protect the north entrance of the Thang Long citadel. Three other temples guard three other entrances, including Quan Thanh Bach Ma and Voi Phuc temples, with Kim Lien temple built in the 16th to 17th century, later than the three others.
