Vietnamese 12th-graders are scheduled to sit the admission exams which will be administered by the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) from July 6 to July 8.

As in previous years, thousands of students head to Ngoc Son Temple and the Temple of Literature, both of which are considered ‘sacred’ places for praying for luck in exams.

"I go to Ngoc Son temple to pray for health, luck, and calmness in the coming exam," said Pham Ngoc Son, a student of Pham Hong Thai High School.

Son added that he has studied hard to pass the exam. “I pray for luck in my multiple-choice English and Math tests," the student added.

"I go to the temple to pray for luck in the coming exams,” Kim Phuc of FPT High School said.

“I feel confident, so I think I will be able to go to my desired university. I hope my mood will be good when I take the exam,” she shared.

The temple of Literature also attracts a huge number of students ahead of their graduation exams.

The temple, originally built in 1070 in the heart of the Thang Long Citadel, now Hanoi, is one of several temples which is dedicated to Confucius, sages, and scholars in the country. For this reason, the site is widely viewed as a sanctuary of knowledge among local people.
