The event is expected to draw the participation of some 144 golfers from both Vietnam and overseas.

According to Mr Nguyen Anh Tuan , editor in chief of Vietnam Investment Review and Head of the competitions Organising Committee, the event aims to raise funds for poor students in need of scholarships and also invest in the building of new schools and the upgrading of shoddy existing ones.

With some VND400 million raised at the first championships held in 2007 and as many as 656 scholarships were given to disadvantaged students from 13 provinces and cities and five universities across the nation./.
