VOV.VN -In modern times, mussel farming provides a good chance for many Vietnamese fishermen in Cam Lam District located in Khanh Hoa province to earn a living.

After flash flooding hit the area, large numbers of local fishermen are flocking to the Thuy Trieu Swamp to seek out mussels rather than going fishing. |

According to local people, mussel hunting gives fisherman the chance to raise income by between VND500,000 to VND 1 million per household. |

Nguyen Thi Yen, a female mussel hunter, said she and her husband are able to catch between 1.8 tonnes and 2 tonnes of mussels each day with a selling price of between VND5,000 to VND6,000 per kg. |

The couple earns VND900,000 to VND1.2 million per day from hunting mussels, 2.5 times higher than their earnings from fishing. |

The fishermen usually go hunting from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. After being cleaned, the mussels are packed into the styrofoam boxes and sold to buyers. |
