Vietnam remittances hit US$12.25 bln in 2015

(VOV) -Vietnam received US$12.25 billion in 2015, higher than the level of US$12 billion one year earlier, according to the World Bank (WB).
The country ranks 11th in the world and 3rd in the East Asian-Pacific region in terms of foreign remittance behind China and the Philippines.
According to the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, nearly five million Vietnamese are living in 103 countries and territories across the globe.
Remittances to Vietnam reached US$11 billion in 2013 and US$12 billion in 2014.
Remittances into the Southeast Asian nation have rose roughly 22.4% annually over the past two decades.
