Vietnam records trade surplus of US$1.68 billion by mid-February

VOV.VN - From the beginning of the year to February 15, the country's total import-export turnover reached US$72 billion, with export turnover standing at US$37 billion, and a trade surplus hitting US$1.68 billion.

The General Department of Vietnam Customs (GSO) reported that Vietnam exported approximately US$13.44 billion worth of products during the first half of February.

Throughout the reviewed period, four groups of exports recorded export turnover of over US$1 billion each, including phones and components; computers, electronic products and components; machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts; and textiles and garments.

In the opposite direction, the import turnover was US$12.38 billion. Elsewhere, two groups seeing import turnover of more than US$1 billion each include computers, electronic products and components, machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts.

This comes as last year saw the country’s total import-export turnover reach a record high of US$730.2 billion.
