Vietnam plays greater role in Uniqlo’s global value chain, says brand leader
VOV.VN - Through local partner factories, 'Made in Vietnam' products have been distributed to more than 2,400 stores around the world, thereby demonstrating the country’s crucial role in Uniqlo’s global value chain, said Nishida Hideki, general director of Uniqlo Vietnam.

He emphasised that with 80 partner factories and 240,000 workers locally, Vietnam has grown into one of Uniqlo’s key manufacturers in Asia.
Last year saw more than 50% of products sold in Uniqlo stores domestically made by Vietnamese people.
Hideki’s assessment comes as fashionable items produced in Vietnam are increasingly making up a remarkable market share globally.
Statistics compiled by the Mirae Asset Securities JSC indicate that the market share of Vietnamese-made fashionable products in the United States and Japan last year accounted for 18.3% and 15.6%, respectively. In the Republic of Korea, the market share was even higher, at 31.1%.
According to the Uniqlo representative, the company has affirmed its commitment to expanding and raising the proportion of local goods that appear in the store chain in Vietnam.
Amid global economic uncertainties, Uniqlo has managed to open seven additional stores this year, bringing its total number of shops in the country to 22.
The latest store is situated in a prime location overlooking Hoan Kiem Lake in the capital city of Hanoi.
He pointed out that Southeast Asia, especially Vietnam, has proven that it has impressive growth potential moving forward, and that the company remains optimistic about the country’s growth prospects.
