Vietnam enjoys trade surplus of US$5.46 billion in first half
VOV.VN - The nation’s trade surplus reached US$5.46 billion during the first six months of the year, approximately US$1.5 billion higher than the estimated value of US$4 billion, according to the General Department of Customs.
In line with the figures, June alone saw export-import turnover reach a total of US$43.26 billion, representing a 15.8% rise from the previous month.
Moreover, export revenue during the month hit US$ 22.564 billion, marking an increase of 17.6% from the previous month, while import value faced a drop of 14% to more than US$20.7 billion.
Furthermore, the country’s overall export turnover during the first half reached roughly US$122.8 billion, an increase of 0.2% from the corresponding period last year, while the nation spent approximately US$117.3 billion on imports throughout the reviewed period, an annual drop of 2.9%.
Staple exports during the reviewed period include computers, electronics and components at US$3.94 billion, telephones and components at US$3.65 billion, garments and textiles at US$2.6 billion, machinery, equipment and spare parts at US$1.9 billion, in addition to footwear at US$1.43 billion.
