Vietnam continues to impose anti-dumping duties on Chinese aluminum imports
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has recently issued a decision to continue imposing anti-dumping measures on some aluminum products originating from China, according to details released by the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam.
This move will see the nation apply anti-dumping duties, with rates ranging between 4.39% and 35.58% on some non-alloy aluminum products from China in the form of bars, rods, extruded, treated, and untreated surfaces which are processed and unprocessed, with this policy being based on the results of the first review.
The products which are to be subject to the latest anti-dumping duties were coded HS 7604.10.10, 7604.10.90, 7604.21.90, 7604.29.10, and 7604.29.90.
This comes following the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam receiving a request from local producers for the first review of anti-dumping measures placed on some aluminum imports originating from the northern neighbour by mid-2020.
Earlier in September 2019, the MoIT had decided to impose anti-dumping duties on some aluminum extruded bars originating from China in September, 2019, with temporary rates ranging between 2.49% and 35.58%.
The MoIT added that it launched an investigation into the case in January, 2019, based on the request made by some domestic manufacturers in October, 2018.
The results of the investigation indicate that the local aluminum sector suffered significant losses as Chinese aluminum products were being dumped on the market at the margin of between 2.49% and 35.58%.
Due to this, a number of domestic producers were forced to halt production, thereby causing a significant number of labourers to lose their jobs.
