Venezuela pledges full support for Vietnamese agribusiness
VOV.VN - Vice President Jorge Marquez has affirmed that the government of Venezuela fully supports and is ready to accompany Vietnamese businesses investing in agriculture.

Receiving a Vietnamese delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment on a recent working visit, Marquez announced that Venezuela has prepared 100,000 hectares of agricultural land specifically for Vietnamese investors.
As chair of the subcommittee of the Venezuela – Vietnam intergovernmental commission, he said, he will personally oversee and support the implementation of cooperative initiatives.
Meanwhile, Minister of Industry and National Production Alex Saab praised Vietnam’s advanced agricultural technology and expertise as a solid foundation for effective cooperation models tailored to Venezuela’s realities. Out of Venezuela’s more than 30 million hectares of arable land, only about 4 million hectares are currently under production.
The Government has planned 3.3 million hectares for crop production and 13.7 million hectares for livestock under agricultural cooperation projects within the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) alliance, with Vietnam as a priority partner.
During a field survey in Guarico state, the Vietnamese delegation was warmly welcomed by Governor Donald Donaire, who emphasised local government support for Vietnamese cooperation efforts. He expressed his confidence that this renewed collaboration would open a promising new chapter in agricultural ties between the two countries, building on successful cooperation from 2016 2018.
Vietnamese delegation leader, Professor Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, director of the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS), stated Vietnam’s readiness to cooperate closely with Venezuela on a mutually beneficial basis. He highlighted that with strong political will and active engagement from both governments and business communities, agriculture cooperation would soon become a strategic pillar in the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Venezuela.
The delegation paid a working trip to Venezuela from June 5 - 9 where they also attended the AGROALBA 2025 International Agriculture Fair.
