Tien Giang exports first batch of fresh coconuts to Chinese market
VOV.VN - The Tien Giang Department of Industry and Trade, in co-ordination with FADO iExport Joint Stock Company (FADO), hosted a ceremony on October 24 to export its first batch of fresh coconuts to China.
The export shipment included three containers weighing a total of nearly 70 tonnes of fresh coconuts.
Pham Van Trong, vice chairman of Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee, underscored the importance of the event for the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang in its efforts to further boost the export of key fruit products to foreign markets, especially the Chinese market.
Pham Tan Dat, chairman of the Board of Directors of FADO iExport Joint Stock Company, revealed that following the implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP), Vietnam has had 15 agricultural products that was officially exported to the Chinese market. Notably, fresh Vietnamese coconuts have been approved by the northern neighbour for import recently.
As a means of quickly meeting the purchasing needs of Chinese partners, FADO has co-operated alongside Hung Thinh Phat Cooperative in Cho Gao district to export the first batch of fresh coconuts to China.
Furthermore, the company has also worked alongside Proship Joint Stock Company to devise solutions aimed at transporting local fresh coconuts by using new generation self-propelled refrigerated containers to ensure a stable temperature and humidity and maintain the best quality of exported products.
The effective solution has therefore contributed to improving the overall quality of Tien Giang agricultural products whilst minimising risks in the official export of agricultural products to China, he noted.
In particular, this marks the first time that fresh Vietnamese coconuts have been transported by rail, which have enjoyed a lot of advantages due to rapid import and export procedures coupled with competitive transportation costs.
The transport method is expected to open up a new direction in terms of promoting the official export of fresh agricultural products in general, particularly fresh coconuts from Tien Giang, in the future.
