Newly-established businesses drop nearly 18.5% in February

VOV.VN - February saw 8,841 new enterprises established in Vietnam with total registered capital of approximately VND65 trillion, representing respective decreases of 18.5% and 33.8% over the same period from last year.

Data released by the General Statistics Office (GSO) on February 28 showed the entire country recorded 3,800 firms registering to suspend operation for a definite time, a drop of 90% over the same period from last year.

Meanwhile, a total of 3,927 enterprises resumed operation in February, dropping by 73.9% against January and falling by 3.5% year on year.

In the first two months of the year there were 19,700 newly-registered enterprises with total registered capital of VND164.7 trillion, falling by 3% and 40.7%, respectively, lower than the rates recorded a year ago.

Throughout the reviewed period the country counted 18,200 enterprises returning to operation.

In contrast, a total of 38,800 enterprises temporarily ceased operations, marking a yearly increase of 18.5%. 

Another 9,400 were in the dissolution process, up 5.8%, and 3,200 completed dissolution procedures, down 1.6%.
