Hai Phong boosts investment promotion, highlights strategic role in new era
VOV.VN - The northern port city of Hai Phong signed a number of cooperation contracts and handed over investment certificates to domestic and foreign businesses at an investment promotion conference on July 15.
The conference, held as part of the third meeting of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC III), brought together more than 1,200 delegates, including senior leaders from ministries, diplomatic missions, and ABAC representatives from 21 APEC economies.,
In his remarks, President Luong Cuong underscored the event’s broader significance, stating
this conference not only reflects Hai Phong’s ambitions, but also conveys Vietnam’s strong message of comprehensive global integration, development aspirations, and unwavering commitment to improving its investment climate.
The President highlighted Hai Phong’s transformation into a major economic, industrial, and logistics hub in northern Vietnam. With a deep-sea port system, smart city infrastructure, and thriving industrial zones, the city is well-positioned to be a key node in global supply chains.
He further said that Vietnam’s total trade turnover in 2024 exceeded US$786 billion, placing the country among the top 20 trading nations globally, with Hai Phong playing a crucial role as the largest export gateway in the north.
President Luong Cuong affirmed Vietnam’s ongoing political stability, institutional reform efforts, and strong connectivity in infrastructure, governance, and human capital. He praised Hai Phong’s leading performance in provincial competitiveness, administrative reform, and green growth, citing its investor-friendly approach and proactive local leadership.
He also emphasised Vietnam and Hai Phong’s commitment to global investment trends, such as digital trade, sustainable development, green energy, and smart logistics that align closely with ABAC’s 2025 priorities.
Taking the floor, Hai Phong Party Secretary Le Tien Chau noted that the theme of the conference highlighting Hai Phong as a strategic destination in the new era is not merely a slogan, but a guiding vision that reflects the city’s strong commitment to development based on key pillars of science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, green transition, and inclusive growth.
The city aims to build a facilitating and responsive government that leads decisively, takes responsibility, and delivers the highest level of service to citizens and the business community, he said.
With unwavering determination, Hai Phong strives to develop on par with leading Asian cities, becoming a modern international seaport city and a regional hub for economy, culture, education, training, and science and technology, he added.
At the event, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai officially presented a National Assembly Resolution, granting Hai Phong six breakthrough mechanisms under a special pilot policy framework aimed at accelerating development.
Delegates of the ABAC III meeting toured key economic landmarks in Hai Phong, including Deep C Industrial Zone, Nam Dinh Vu, Trang Due, Lach Huyen Deep-Sea Port, LG Display, and cultural attractions like the Cat Ba archipelago and Chu Dau ceramics.
