The Lo Ren Vinh Kim co-operative in Chau Thanh district, Kien Giang province will export 16 tonnes of Nam Roi grapefruit to the Netherlands on March 20.
This is the second time the co-operative has carried out its Nam Roi grapefruit export contract with the Netherlands. The previous time, 33 tonnes of the fruit were shipped.
This time, the co-operative bought fruit from farmers in such provinces as Tien Giang, Ben Tre and Vinh Long at a price of VND5,500 per kilo, VND1,000-1,500 per kilo higher than prices on the domestic consumer market.
Thanks to a modernised system of packaging, which meets the Global GAP standards, Vietnam’s Nam Roi grapefruit has been accepted by the notoriously fastidious Dutch market.
