Da Nang to set up working group on cooperation with US
VOV.VN - Da Nang will soon establish a working group to work out and realise cooperation projects between the central city of Vietnam and the United States through the US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City.

Ho Ky Minh, deputy head of the Da Nang municipal administration, was speaking while receiving Susan Burns, US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, during her working trip to the city on March 26.
He briefed his guest on the local leadership’ recent working trip to the US to propose human resource training programs for Da Nang, as well as to introduce the environment and policy mechanisms to attract investment into the semiconductor industry.
Most recently, Da Nang opened a training course for integrated circuit engineers, with support from Synopsys.
This is an important step towards materialize the memorandum of understanding between Da Nang and Synopsys on cooperation in the field of the semiconductor industry, stressed Minh.
He expected that US Consul General would support Da Nang to get access to the International Technology Security and Innovation Fund (ITSI) under the CHIPS and Science Act of the US, to help the city train and develop the assembly, testing, and packaging of semiconductor circuits (ATP).
Susan Burns for her part said US businesses are keen to explore opportunities in Da Nang, considering the locality a potential investment destination.
She expected that, in addition to traditional cooperation in recent times, the US and Da Nang would deploy cooperation in the fields of semiconductor chips, renewable energy, finance, and seaport development.
Da Nang has established cooperative relationships with three US cities – Oakland, Pittsburgh, and Houston.
As of October 30, 2023, there were 82 valid projects valued at more than US$831 million of US investors in Da Nang, accounting for 8% of the number of projects and more than 19% of the total foreign investment capital in the city. These projects were mainly focused on the fields of tourism, real estate, high technology, and supporting industries.
Da Nang currently has more than 20 businesses that have import-export relationships with the United States. In the first half of 2023, two-way trade turnover between Da Nang and the US hit US$238 million, including US$205 million worth of exports from the Vietnamese locality.
