Bac Ninh pushes for greater Samsung investment and tech transfer
VOV.VN - Nguyen Van Gau, Secretary of the Bac Ninh povincial Party Committee, has called on Samsung to scale up its investment in the province and promote technology transfer to domestic firms, enabling more Vietnamese private enterprises to join the group’s global supply chain.

The proposal was made at a meeting on July 10 with a delegation from Samsung Vietnam, led by CEO Na Ki Hong. Gau also expressed hope that Samsung would continue supporting Bac Ninh’s social welfare initiatives in the future.
At the meeting, CEO Na Ki Hong reviewed the company’s operations in Vietnam. He noted that Samsung began its investment journey in 2008 with a US$670 million mobile phone plant in Bac Ninh. The group is currently operating six manufacturing plants, a research and development center, and a sales entity across Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City.
By the end of 2024, Samsung’s cumulative investment in Vietnam had reached approximately US$23.2 billion, making it the country’s largest foreign investor. At present, the company employs around 87,000 workers nationwide, including over 45,000 in Bac Ninh.
In 2023 alone, Samsung Vietnam's six factories generated US$62.5 billion in revenue, including US$54.4 billion in export earnings. Bac Ninh now hosts more than 70 of Samsung’s tier-1 suppliers, employing a total of about 80,000 workers.
Secretary Gau praised Samsung’s contributions and affirmed that Bac Ninh would continue upgrading industrial park infrastructure to attract further investment. He also tasked provincial departments with addressing business concerns, particularly power supply to ensure uninterrupted production.
The province, he added, remains committed to working closely with enterprises to remove bottlenecks as away of fostering their stronger development.
