The athletes will compete for 42 sets of medals in events such as football, volleyball, cross-country running, crossbow shooting and tug of war in Dien Bien province’s sports hall, sports and physical training centre and stadium.

A men’s volleyball match between Vinh Phuc and host Dien Bien team took place after the opening ceremony.

The festival, which closes on May 12, is organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Dien Bien provincial People’s Committee.
