Vietnamese piano prodigy to play with world famous orchestra

VOV.VN - Vietnamese wunderkind pianist, Luu Hong Quang, will perform with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) at the 2017 Toyota Concert on November 4 at Hanoi Opera House. 

The collaboration was unveiled at a press conference held in Hanoi on October 18.

The concert has also drawn the participation of famous violinist David Juritz, and talented conductor Anthony Weeden, both of the UK. At the Toyota Concert, Luu Hong Quang will perform Mozart’s piano concerto No. 9, and K721 piece.

Luu Hong Quang has won several prestigious awards at the world’s piano competitions and performed with famous orchestras in Italy, Australia and China. He is now a lecturer at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts (AMPA) of Australia.

During the concert, music lovers will have the opportunity to enjoy masterpieces from the world’s famous operas and musical plays.

At the press conference, deputy general director of Toyota Motor Vietnam Do Thu Hoang said that all proceeds from ticket sales will be transferred to the “Toyota Musical Scholarship for Vietnamese Young Music Talents” programme.

Since 2009, as many as 730 scholarships  were presented to outstanding music students nationwide. This year, Toyota Concert 2017 will take place across six regional nations- Thailand, Brunei, Laos, Malaysia, and Vietnam from October 10 to November 4.
