Vietnamese athletes will compete in track-and-field, badminton, weightlifting, swimming, table-tennis, chess and tennis events.

Winner at the tournament will automatically move on to the London Olympics.

At the previous Games in Malaysia two years ago, Vietnam won 73 gold, 57 silver and 45 bronze medals to come third behind Thailand and the host.
