Vietnam joins Festa Juninas celebration in Brazil
VOV.VN - The Embassy of Vietnam joined the embassies of other countries in Brazil to introduce their distinctive cultures at Festa Juninas, also known as the June Festival, held in capital Brasília on June 26.

At the Vietnamese booth, visitors were given the chance to enjoy a range of special dishes featuring the unique taste of Vietnam.
Senhora Julie-Pascale Moudoute Bell, chairwoman of Brasília international club, showed sincere thanks to the Vietnamese Embassy for co-ordinating with the club to organise the festival.
The festival provided an opportunity for countries to hold exchanges, learn more about various cultures, and discover different cuisine from across the world, she stressed.
The festival draws the participation of 150 members of Brasília international club, aiming to send a message of peace, solidarity, and friendship, and wish everyone happiness and prosperity with good crops.
Festas Juninas, also known as festas de São João, is held annually on June 24. These festivities were first introduced by the Portuguese during the colonial period which lasted from 1500 to 1822 and are celebrated during the month of June nationwide.
People dress up in idealised old-style peasant clothing, chequered shirts and skirts, and don straw hats. They paint on moustaches, goatees, and freckles, whilst women put their hair into pigtails. These costumes are combined with country music, or forrό, that is performed as a square dance.
Participants also have the chance to enjoy playing games and tasting food throughout the festival.
