Typical highland market session to be introduced in Hanoi capital
VOV.VN - The Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism will introduce a typical highland market session in Hanoi’s outlying district of Son Tay during the upcoming four-day holiday marking the country’s 79th National Day (September 2).

A model of a typical highland market session will be erected introducing a range of specialties from the northwest and northeast regions in 50 booths.
Demonstrations of traditional handicraft making and a photo exhibition on intangible cultural heritages will also be held, alongside folk games, folk songs and dances put on by the Mong, Nung, and Thai ethnic people.
Visitors will have the opportunity to play the Khèn panpipe, a traditional musical instrument vital to the cultural life of the Mong ethnic people, attend the cấp sắc ritual, a rite of passage declaring the coming-of-age of the Nung ethnic men, and participate in the unique hair washing ritual of the white Thai ethnic group.
With the theme of Vui Tết Độc Lập (Happy independence festival), the activities will get underway from August 31 to September 3, enabling local and foreign visitors to explore the unique cultural identities and traditional customs of ethnic groups from across the country.
Located in the Dong Mo tourism area in Hanoi’s Son Tay suburb, the village is considered a common house of the 54 ethnic groups nationwide. It has a total area of 1,544ha with seven functional zones.
