National team midfielder Pham Thanh Luong and goalkeeper Dang Thi Kieu Trinh won Golden Ball awards for outstanding contributions to national men’s and women’s football teams in 2011.
This is the second time Luong has received the honour after his first one in 2009.
Song Lam Nghe An’s midfielder Nguyen Trong Hoang was placed second while Saigon FC’s naturalized striker Huynh Kesley came third.
Le Thi Thuong from Khoang San bagged the Silver Ball while winger Nguyen Thi Muon from Hanoi grabbed the Bronze Ball in the women’s category.
The Junior Footballer prize went to midfielder Nguyen Van Quyet from Hanoi T&T and the Foreign Player of the Year was awarded to prolific forward Gaston Merlo from SHB Danang.
The first Golden Ball was won by former striker Le Huynh Duc in 1995 when he played for the former Ho Chi Minh City Police team.
