Monaco Boys Choir enchants Hanoi audiences with return performance
VOV.VN - Music lovers in the capital were treated to two special concerts by the Monaco Boys Choir at St. Joseph’s Cathedral on July 7 and 8, marking the choir’s return to Vietnam following their Asian tour in the summer of 2018.

Under the baton of Maestro Pierre Debat, 25 young singers from Monaco performed a 20-piece repertoire at each concert. The sacred space of the cathedral provided a stirring backdrop, with the opening piece “Come unto Christ” delivering a powerful emotional impact.
Louis Aurelien, one of the choir members, said this was his first visit to Vietnam, describing it as a beautiful country with a rich history. He added that Vietnamese people were incredibly friendly and that he felt proud to perform at St. Joseph’s Cathedral.
Conductor Pierre Debat expressed his delight at returning to Hanoi and staging two performances aimed at fostering cultural exchange between Monaco and Vietnam.
The event formed part of ongoing cooperation activities between the two sides, serving as a bridge for cultural dialogue and bringing the music of Monaco to Vietnamese audiences. Looking ahead, the European side hopes to deepen collaboration across not only music but also broader cultural fields, according to Alexis Delevaux, Consul of the Principality of Monaco in Vietnam.
Originally founded in 1974, the Monaco Boys Choir is part of the Monaco Cathedral Choir and includes 25 boys aged nine to 16. Today, under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II, Les Petits Chanteurs plays an active role in Monaco’s cultural life, Hanoi Grapevine arts organisation in Hanoi wrote on its website.
The young performers have toured more than 40 countries, serving as cultural ambassadors and showcasing Monaco’s deep-rooted ties to the performing arts, the site noted.
Following their concerts in Hanoi, the Monaco Boys Choir will perform in Ho Chi Minh City on July 16 and 17.
