A house that features Vietnamese craft villages

Vietnam House has been launched recently in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 2 to preserve and promote the quintessence of domestic crafts to locals and foreigners.

Located on the peaceful Nguyen Van Huong Street and designed by award-winning architect Vo Trong Nghia, Vietnam House covers 2,300 square meters by the Saigon River.

It has 50 souvenir booths and 12 mini production sites representing 12 major craft villages of the country, including bamboo and rattan, sedge and water hyacinth, ceramics, wood sculpture, lacquer, embroidery, stone carving, weaving, paper craft, art painting, and metal craft.

There is an outdoor section for visitors to learn and make craft products by themselves.

According to Phan Dinh Tram Anh, director of Thanh Dat Import-Export Co Ltd, the owner of the house, all products displayed at Vietnam House are handmade by local artisans.

This is where foreign customers can take a look at Vietnam’s main handicraft products.

Vietnam House will also organize monthly exhibitions and seminars with main themes relating to 12 craft villages such as bamboo, wood, and lacquer.

Vietnam House is also an ideal location for those looking for an airy and interesting place for sightseeing, shopping and entertainment on weekends.

Parents can browse for their favorite products while their kids have a chance to join outdoor DIY activities. Traditional music performances are scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. every Saturday and Sunday.

Vietnam House is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 187 Nguyen Van Huong Street in Thao Dien Ward in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 2. Further information can be found on the Facebook page of ngoinhavn or via tel: 08 3519 2039.
